Launching Our Future
Earlier this year, Council approved Join the Journey, a hope-filled document that articulates our mission and vision statements and details our dreams for the next five years. This month we will launch The Journey in in two phases.
Phase I will be an evening of prayer that will take place on Wednesday, February 16. Council is inviting everyone who desires to pray for our future to join in that evening starting at 7:00 pm. After opening comments in the auditorium, we will spend time together praying prayers of repentance and humbling ourselves before God. Then we will travel throughout the building in small groups committing our church’s life and ministries to the Lord.
Since only a vision given and sustained by God can bear spiritual fruit, this first phase of the launch is vital. We want to be sure to commit all of our plans to God in prayer from the very outset of the journey.
Phase II of our launch will take place in worship on Sunday, February 26. The music, the message, and all other worship elements that morning will center on our call to serve God together as a church. We will each be invited to dedicate ourselves to serving God in whatever way he calls us to “join the journey.”
Missionary William Carey famously said, “Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.” We believe in a God who can do the impossible. We have discerned, to the best of our ability, God’s will for our future. Now it is time to put our faith into action. We will go forward doing our 100 percent, depending on our infinitely powerful God to multiply our efforts beyond what we can possibly envision.
I am convinced that if we keep our eyes on God, and move forward humbly, God will lead us into an exciting and surprising future. We serve a God can do “far more than all we can ask or imagine”!–Pastor Tom
